Gary Carter Foundation & SLPowers launch "Upgrades"
January 02, 2002
West Palm Beach - In 2001, The Gary Carter Foundation and SLPowers launched the
Upgrades program, which uses computer upgrades to help kids up (their) grades.
The next time that you upgrade your computer, you can donate your old system to
us and you will receive a thank you letter from the Gary Carter Foundation, which
can be used for tax purposes. SLPowers will then ready your system, including installation
of FCAT test prep software, and the system will be placed at a local school.
The first school in the project was Barton Elementary in Lantana, FL which received
over 20 computers. But our work is not over yet and with many more school needing
the FCAT test prep, the 2002 computer drive is on.
Computers donated must be at least Pentium class system and capable of running Windows
NT4.0 workstation.
